On January 4, 2022, the Institute of Information Technology – Hanoi National University held a conference of officials, employees, and employees and summed up the year 2021 in the form of face-to-face and online collaboration. ‎Speaking at the opening of the conference, PGS. TS. Tran Xuan Tu, Secretary of the Department, Director of the Institute of Information Technology has noted and appreciated the efforts of all officials, officials and employees of the Institute in 2021 although the unit encountered a lot of difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, many backlogs of the unit from 2020 onwards related to financial issues, Personnel, facilities … but always strive to complete the assigned tasks well, contributing to the good implementation of the task plan targets in 2021, gradually uniting, stabilizing, trusting and hoping for the development of the Institute of Information Technology in the coming time.‎

‎In the section of the 2021 final report, the 2022 task plan of the Institute of Information Technology, PgS. TS. Tran Xuan Tu stated the outstanding results of the unit in 2021:‎

‎+ Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Information Technology (many scientific events and seminars were held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Information Technology, Hanoi National University).‎

‎+ PGS. TS. Le Hoang Son, Senior Research Fellow, Head of Multimedia and Virtual Reality Department continues to be one of the three Vietnamese scientists in the list of the world’s 10,000 best scientists (2019, 2020, 2021), according to PloS Biology.‎

‎+ The Institute of Information Technology has high-tech products funded for experimental fabrication by the Experimental Manufacturing Assistance Program initiated by Google (Analog – Digital Converter for IoT applications based on VCO voltage oscillators).‎

‎+ Scientific and intellectual property disclosure activities of the Institute of Information Technology develop at a high level. The ratio of scientific works on the ISI/Scopus list according to scientific staff reached 2.9 works/staff; 42% of ISI/Scopus works fall into the Q1/Q2 Scimago category.‎

‎+ Facilities and working conditions of staffs of the Institute of Information Technology have been improved, creating a new appearance and working atmosphere on the 6th floor of E3.‎

‎Speaking directing the conference, PGS. TS. ‎Prof. Pham Bao Son directed, in the coming time, the Institute of Information Technology should focus on some of the following tasks:‎

‎Develop the development strategy orientation of the Institute associated with the key strategies and tasks of VNU, contributing to the successful implementation of the VNU Development Strategy to 2030, vision 2045.‎

    • ‎In addition to the task of ensuring a high number of scientific publications, the Institute needs to focus on applied research, technology transfer and product commercialization based on core technology products. Regarding the field of smart health, it is recommended that the Institute work closely with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, VNU to put research products and results into application in VNU Hospital.‎
    • ‎In terms of training, the Institute should boldly register enrollment, train phD students and postdoctoral research to take advantage of the support policies of VNU and to create scientific staff for the Institute. The Institute needs to cooperate with the International School, Vietnam Japan University to participate in teaching information technology courses for newly opened training disciplines in these units. Regarding short-term training programs, the Institute focuses on developing programs to meet the needs of enterprises to both generate more revenue and promote the position of the Institute.‎
    • ‎The Institute should build at least one strong research team at the vnU level.‎
    • ‎The construction of VNU in Hoa Lac: The Institute participates in researching and proposing plans to build and manage the interdisciplinary research zone of VNU (Zone 22.9 ha) in a modern direction, worthy of the position of VNU.‎
