On December 27, 2021, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam signed Decision No. 2206/QD-TTg appointing Mr. Nguyen Hieu, Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel of VNU, to the position of Vice President of VNU.

New Vice President of VNU Nguyen Hieu, born on March 13, 1976; hometown: Trinh Xa commune, Binh Luc district (now in Phu Ly city), Ha Nam province; graduated with a Bachelor of Geography in 1996, a Master of Geomorphology and Paleogeography in 2002, a Doctorate in Geomorphology and Paleogeography in 2008 from the University of Natural Sciences, VNU; was appointed as Associate Professor in 2011; use English fluently; have a high level of political theory.
New Vice President Nguyen Hieu used to be and is holding important management positions and positions in VNU such as: Vice President of Geomorphology – Geography and Marine Environment Department, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Geography, University. Natural Sciences; Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of VNU Agency; Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Organization Department of the Party Committee, Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel of VNU; cum Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Currently, VNU has 3 Deputy Directors, namely Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Son and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu.
