On the afternoon of May 12, 2026, the Information Technology Institute of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ITI-VNU) held a working session with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to discuss strategic cooperation in the research, development, and application of digital technologies, with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence within the power sector. The EVN delegation, led by Dr. Dang Bang Viet, Deputy Director of the Science, Technology, and Digital Transformation Department, included representatives from the Central Power Corporation and various production units. On the side of ITI-VNU, the meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Tu, Director, alongside the Vice Directors, department heads, and leading experts in the fields of AI and the Internet of Things from Vietnam National University.

During the meeting, both parties shared insights regarding their respective directions for technological development and digital transformation, as well as the practical requirements for managing and operating large-scale power systems. The representatives from EVN emphasized that the group is currently accelerating the application of new technologies like AI, Big Data, and IoT to enhance monitoring capabilities, optimize business production, and ensure the absolute safety and stability of the national power grid. In response, Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Tu highlighted that ITI-VNU possesses core strengths in AI, machine learning, computer vision, and embedded systems. He expressed the Institute’s strong desire to accompany EVN in solving real-world technological problems through its interdisciplinary research ecosystem.
The two sides further discussed and reached a consensus on implementing key collaborative projects, specifically the application of AI in processing monitoring data for power systems nationwide to provide early warnings for potential incidents. Furthermore, experts from both organizations explored the potential for developing intelligent analysis platforms and IoT solutions for infrastructure management. Both parties agreed to strengthen their connection by forming joint research groups to execute specific technological tasks in the near future. This working session serves as an important starting point in the partnership between ITI-VNU and EVN, opening up numerous opportunities for technology transfer that serves the national digital transformation process, especially in energy and critical infrastructure.
