May 18th annually marks Vietnam Science and Technology Day—a major event dedicated to honoring the intellect, scientists, and creative workers, while sparks pride and a passion for research among the public, particularly the younger generation. This is a meaningful occasion to reaffirm the pivotal role of science, technology, and innovation in driving socio-economic development.
In this proud atmosphere, the Institute of Information Technology (ITI) – VNU has consistently asserted its position as one of the core units in the research, development, and transfer of information technology. Over the past years, the Institute’s scientists and staff have made ceaseless efforts, reaping significant rewards with a series of high-quality international publications and highly practical patents in strategic areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Semiconductor Chip Design, Information Security, and Digital Transformation, notably:
The Institute has successfully organized numerous academic networking and international cooperation activities. These include two prestigious international scientific conferences—which attracted a large number of experts and businesses, with accepted papers published in reputable databases like IEEE and Scopus—alongside 12 periodic seminars and visits from multiple international delegations for technological exchanges. Outstanding events include:
The 4th International Conference on Advances in Information and Communication Technology (ICTA 2025);
The 24th International Symposium on Communications and Information Technologies (ISCIT 2025); among others.
In addition, various international delegations have visited ITI to tour its research units, discuss collaborative opportunities, and present current global technology trends.
All science and technology tasks have been implemented on schedule. Indicators regarding scientific publications, intellectual property, and international cooperation have substantially met and exceeded the 2025–2026 annual plans. In 2025, the Institute’s scientists were granted 03 exclusive patents by the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam (IP Vietnam), Ministry of Science and Technology, with 07 decisions on application acceptance. In the first five months of 2026, the faculty filed 02 new patent applications which were subsequently accepted, received 02 copyright registration certificates, and was granted 01 official certificate.
The international publication rate (WoS/Scopus) reached approximately 3 papers per scientist per year. The number of intellectual property applications averaged 0.3 filings per scientist per year.
In celebration of Vietnam Science and Technology Day this year, ITI continues to promote emulation movements in research, constantly improving academic quality and knowledge transfer. Each research project and patent developed at ITI serves as a practical solution to the nation’s challenges, directly contributing to the advancement of Vietnam’s digital government, digital economy, and digital society.
On the occasion of May 18th, we would like to extend our warmest congratulations to all scientists, researchers, lecturers, and students of the Institute of Information Technology. May you keep the flame of passion burning bright, continuing to innovate and make breakthroughs to elevate the scientific and technological stature of the Institute!
