Within the framework of the Da Nang Semiconductor Day 2024 event organized by the People’s Committee of Da Nang, the Information Technology Institute, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, awarded certificates of completion for the short-term training program (UpSkill) in Semiconductor Chip Design to 22 core lecturers from Da Nang.

The training program was fully sponsored by Synopsys (USA), covering all licensing costs for semiconductor chip design software as well as part of the training expenses.

This is a semiconductor workforce development program commissioned by the City of Da Nang, jointly organized by the Information Technology Institute, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-ITI), in collaboration with the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (University of Danang) and the Da Nang Semiconductor Design and AI Research and Training Center (DSAC), starting from March 2024.

The UpSkill program in Semiconductor Chip Design is designed with a practical approach, combining three months of theoretical study and three months of real-world project work. This helps lecturers enhance their skills and capabilities while gaining access to and utilizing advanced semiconductor fabrication libraries and commercial design software toolkits, enabling them to immediately engage in semiconductor chip design. The participants in this program were selected by the City of Da Nang from local higher education institutions such as the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, Danang University of Science and Technology, University of Technical Education, Duy Tan University, and FPT University. Several graduates of the program have been selected to study and participate in practical exchanges in Taiwan in the near future.

Prof. Tran Xuan Tu, Director of the Information Technology Institute, has joined the advisory group on the development of the semiconductor industry in Da Nang. Earlier, in March 2024, the Institute of Information Technology collaborated with the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology to launch two training courses in semiconductor chip design for lecturers and students in Da Nang.
Dr. Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the Information Technology Institute – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Assoc. Prof. Huynh Cong Phap, Rector of the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology – University of Danang, awarded certificates of completion for the Semiconductor Chip Design training course to 22 lecturers from Da Nang.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee, delivered the opening speech at the Da Nang Semiconductor Investment Promotion Conference.
The Information Technology Institute – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and the Department of Information and Communications of Da Nang signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in research and development of semiconductor chips and artificial intelligence.

The Da Nang Semiconductor Day 2024 event was organized as an opportunity to promote the city’s investment policies in the semiconductor sector, showcasing Da Nang’s commitment and readiness to welcome and advance the semiconductor industry. The event also aimed to materialize National Assembly Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on urban governance and the pilot implementation of special mechanisms and policies for Da Nang’s development.
