On September 6, 2023, VNU Vice President Pham Bao Son and the President of Saigon Hi-Tech Park Nguyen Anh Thi signed a cooperation agreement between the two organizations in promoting the development of electronics and semiconductor IC design. The Information Technology Institute was assigned an important role in implementing activities related to training, scientific research, and technology transfer in the field of semiconductor IC design and applications.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son and Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung.
In order to promote the strengths of the two sides, VNU and Saigon Hi-Tech Park will jointly develop and implement research, training and incubation programs in electronics and semiconductor chip, and actively contribute to the implementation of the Party’s guidelines on industrialization and modernization of the country.
The two organizations co-develop scientific and technological potentials in electronics and semiconductor circuit. Specifically, the two sides co-build and co-implement national-level S&T tasks aimed at improving technological capacity – the ability to acquire, create and apply technology in the electronics and semiconductor circuit industries, directly contributing to the realization of the goal of developing endogenous capacity and improving Vietnam’s self-reliant capacity in these strategic basic industries; effectively share and use scientific and technological information and resources for the implementation of each party’s development goals; and cooperate in exploiting laboratories and scientific equipment according to the needs, capabilities and conditions of the parties.
In addition, VNU and Saigon Hi-Tech Park focus on promoting innovative electronics and microchip startups. The two sides also co-train human resources in electronics and semiconductor circuit with a focus on sharing the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) licenses, textbooks, and learning materials for the subjects related to integrated circuit design as well as developing subjects and micro credits associated with the regular training programs.
The leaders of VNU and the Management Board of Saigon Hi-Tech Park commit to creating the best conditions in terms of resources and other conditions for jointly implementing specific cooperation programs. There will be a liaison from each side to monitor and promote cooperative activities. The two sides will also annually review the cooperative activities and evaluate their effectiveness.
In the same day, VNU delegation also visited Unicloud – a leading company in digital transformation at SHTP.
