On the 31st October 2024, at the Headquarters = of the Vietnam Development Bank, a training course entitled “Basic Awareness of Cybersecurity” was held for the bank’s leadership and key staff. With the in-person participation of over one hundred attendees, and remote participation from the bank’s Transaction Offices and Branches at 58 locations, Dr. Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National University’s Information Technology Institute, and Mr. Phan Hoang Giap, Director of Information Security Services at VSEC Cybersecurity JSC, led the training. They not only provided foundational knowledge on cybersecurity but also equipped participants with skills to respond to increasingly sophisticated security threats within the banking and financial sectors.
Amid a landscape of increasingly complex and large-scale cyberattacks, especially in the high-security demand sector of banking and finance, the Vietnam Development Bank proactively collaborated with the Information Technology Institute to organize this training course. Its goal was to enhance awareness and defense capabilities across the entire staff.

First, Deputy Director Dr. Le Quang Minh shared practical knowledge on common types of cyberattacks, such as phishing, malware, and basic security techniques to mitigate these risks. Additionally, participants were provided with measures to protect customer data and reduce the likelihood of security incidents, thereby enhancing their self-protection skills in the digital environment. Following this, Mr. Phan Hoang Giap presented information security strategies and recent case studies from Vietnam, offering valuable lessons and experiences for participants to draw on in the future. Dr. Le Quang Minh emphasized, “Information security is not just the responsibility of the technical department; it is a collective duty of all staff within the organization. This training course is an opportunity for employees to acquire essential skills to protect both themselves and the bank against the rising threats.”
The course received positive feedback from participants, with many bank officers and staff members appreciating its practical and applicable content, which boosts their confidence in protecting personal and organizational information when working with online services.
This event not only helped enhance knowledge about information security but also reaffirmed the Vietnam Development Bank’s (VDB) commitment to safeguarding customer information and maintaining a secure, transparent financial environment. Deputy Director Dr. Le Quang Minh expressed hope that through training programs like this, the bank’s team will become increasingly resilient against cyber risks, contributing to the protection of the bank’s reputation and customer trust.
