THE GOVERNMENT ASSIGNED VNU TO PERFORM MANY MAJOR TASKS OF THE COUNTRY
On November 28, 2021, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam chaired a meeting with the leaders of VNU. PRIME MINISTER APPOINTS DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF VNU On June 24, 2021, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 998/QD-TTg appointing professors. Dr. Le Quan – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People’s Committee, former Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, former Deputy Director of VNU held the position of Director of VNU. In his inaugural address, the new Director of VNU Le Quan expressed his determination and efforts to join hands with the collective of officials, lecturers, scientists, students, students, graduate students to build VNU worthy of being a large university, having a pioneering role in vietnam higher education innovation, Affirming high positions at home and abroad. In 2021, the 6th Vietnam International Study Workshop was jointly organized by the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and VNU in a direct form combined online with the theme ”Vietnam actively integrates and sustainable development”. The workshop aims to research for the sustainable development of Vietnam and contribute to peace, cooperation and sustainable development of both the region and the world. ”Vietnam Learning Forum: Achievements and Prospects” chaired by VNU in the framework of the workshop is a space for scientists, managers, social activists and policy makers to share and evaluate the achievements in research and teaching Vietnam in recent years and point out the problems that exist, limiting as well as determining the development direction of Vietnamese studies in the coming time. Vietnam Learning Forum: Achievements and Prospects, October 28, 2021 Within the framework of the Australian Education Cooperation Program at VNU, the short-term training and training program for excellent English lecturers in Southeast Asia conducted by IELTS IDP experts has attracted 200 participants, including 47 officials, lecturers of VNU. In the face of the complicated development of the Covid-19 epidemic, VNU has implemented online teaching and learning for learners at the end of the first semester, the academic year 2021-2022. Science and technology activities have also changed by integrating digital technology into science and technology products and research tasks, towards the formation of products with the application of artificial intelligence, contributing to promoting the commercialization of products in the environment of the digital economy. Also in 2021, VNU has issued many new policies and new regulations to promote training activities, scientific research and create a premise for the development of VNU in the present and future. Meeting with leaders of VNU through the periods on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers’ Day 20/11 On December 27, 2021, the Director of VNU signed decision No. 4326/QD-VNU on the promulgation of regulations on working regimes for lecturers at VNU with many points of progress and international integration. Implementing a policy of use for highly qualified scientists, VNU also assigned VNU Hospital to develop a high-standard personal health consultation and periodic health examination program for professors and associate professors of VNU. VNU develops and implements the project “Investment in the development of basic sciences” in the direction of prioritizing investment, improving these sectors according to the proposed mechanism of the unit or ordered by VNU to train and develop scientific and technological human resources for the country, highly qualified theoretical research staff for the Party and central agencies. In order to increase high-quality resources, develop a team of highly qualified lecturers and scientists to serve the development and integration of the country, in 2021, VNU also approved the project “Incubation of young scientists at VNU to 2025, vision to 2030”. On November 19, 2021, the Director of VNU signed Decision No. 3688/QD-VNU promulgating the Regulation on scholarship support for phD students and postdoctoral trainees at VNU. Accordingly, VNU supports scholarships of up to VND 100 million per year for phD students and VND120 million per year for young doctors with excellent international research and publishing capacity. This policy promises to have a great impact, creating breakthroughs in improving the quality and efficiency of training and scientific research activities of VNU. In addition, VNU also advocates to expand programs and subjects of talent training and support, creating conditions for good students from disadvantaged backgrounds to study at VNU. The purpose of building high-quality, talented training programs is to find, discover, train and foster students with outstanding academic and research capacity, creative capacity and passion for scientific research. Workshop on training in technical and technological sectors in the context of Industry 4.0 In particular, VNU continues to promote the development of interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary training programs, in which special priority is given to technical and technological professions. HOA LAC PROJECT TRANSFORMS AND IS DETERMINED TO BRING STUDENTS TO STUDY IN HOA LAC The complex of HT1 and HT2 buildings in Zone 4 of the University of Natural Sciences, Dormitory No. 4 of the VNU construction investment project in Hoa Lac is ready to receive according to the design scale to ensure nearly 4,000 students to study and live. The construction of VNU in Hoa Lac ensures the design thinking is a smart, green, modern university city and sustainable development. In addition to the efforts of land clearance and resource mobilization activities, the implementation of component projects of the INVESTMENT PROJECT to build VNU in Hoa Lac, the Board of Directors of VNU decided to welcome students to study at Hoa Lac campus in September 2022. Also in 2021, the Director of VNU signed decision No. 3333/QD-VNU dated October 28, 2021 on the establishment of the Project Management Board “Development of National Universities of Vietnam – Sub-Project of VNU”, referred to as the World Bank Project Management Board – management of investment projects to build essential facilities in Hoa Lac with the credit capital of the World Bank. INCREASING SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL POTENTIAL, PROMOTING THE TRANSFER OF RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENTS TO LIFE In the past year, the potential of science and technology at VNU has been interested in development investment, the number of international publications is constantly increasing with 1,100 ISI /Scopus articles, inventions, inventions and transfer of research achievements to life are constantly promoted. STRENGTHENING NATIONAL POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITY On September 15, 2021, VNU launched an online channel to support primary education. Launch ceremony of Higher Education and Career Quality Channel, 05/11/2021 With high determination to work with the whole country to prevent and combat covid-19, VNU scientists also contributed intellectually and enthusiastically in researching and conducting experiments to master the technology of producing mARN vaccine to respond quickly to Covid-19 strains; Modeling techniques help virtually screen for compounds on a computer in order to look for compounds or drugs that effectively treat Covid-19. VNU also held a scientific seminar “Proposing solutions to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic in the new situation in Vietnam” with the participation of leading scientists and experts, exchanging and discussing proposals with the Government of groups of solutions to realize the dual objectives – just preventing, fight epidemics, recover and develop socio-economic development. In addition, lecturers, doctors and students of vnU University of Medicine and Pharmacy have directly traveled to the South to support the examination and treatment of cases of Covid-19; officials, lecturers and scientists of VNU participate in the Information Group on Rapid Response to Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control under the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control. MAINTAINING ITS POSITION AND INCREASING ITS CREDIBILITY IN THE INTERNATIONAL ARENA According to the results of the QS WUR 2022 ranking, VNU continues to be ranked in the group of 801-1000 best universities in the world. This is the fourth time in a row that the U.S. has been in this group. Although continuously maintained in this ranking group on the ranking, the ranking score of VNU is increasing. According to this ranking, VNU ranked 147th best higher education institutions in Asia in 2022 – the same ranking achieved in QS AUR 2020 but has risen to the top 21.4%. The Field of Social Sciences first appeared in the Times Higher Education Journal’s field rankings for the first time in 2022 and ranked in the world’s 501-600 group. Most recently, U.S. News & World Report has just published the results of the Ranking of The Best Global Universities. Accordingly, VNU has ranked 938th in the world, up 11 places compared to the previous ranking period. Also in this ranking period, the field of Physics of VNU continues to be ranked and ranked at 635th in the world. COMPLETING THE STRUCTURE OF MULTIDISCIPLINARY AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY UNIVERSITY ORGANIZATION WITH THE SCHOOL MODEL On December 1, 2021, the Director of VNU signed the promulgation of Decision No. 3868/QD-VNU establishing the International School on the basis of reorganizing the International Faculty and Decision No. 3869/QD-VNU establishing the School of Management and Business on the basis of reorganizing the Faculty of Management and Business. MANY UNITS AND INDIVIDUALS ARE HONORED. In 2021, a number of member units and affiliated members of VNU organized activities towards celebrating the traditional day and the development path: University of Natural Sciences – formerly hanoi University of General, celebrating 65 years of tradition and receiving the 2nd Third Class Labor Medal (1956 – 2021); Faculty of Law – VNU celebrates 45 years of tradition (1976 – 2021); Tran Nhan Tong Institute celebrates 5 years of establishment and development. This year, 02 works of scientists of VNU have been considered by the State Council to be awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize, the 6th State Award for Science and Technology, which is: The work “Anti-colonialism movement in Vietnam” of the late Professor. Dr. Dinh Xuan Lam and the work “Modern Vietnamese Poetry” by Prof. Dr. Le Van Lan (pseudonym Ma Giang Lan). In 2021, according to the results published in the US journal PLoS Biology on the ranking of cited influence in the scientific community, two scientists of VNU are Professors. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc and Prof. Nguyen Dinh Duc. Dr. Le Hoang Son continues to be named in the list of the 10,000 most influential scientists. At the top of the list of Vietnamese scientists is Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc, ranked 5,949th in the world and ranked 96th in the world in engineering, followed by PgS. Dr. Le Hoang Son ranked 6,766th. Also in 2021, Dr. Nguyen Thi An Hang – Director of the Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering, Vietnam Japan University was honored to receive the Vietnam Women’s Award for outstanding achievements at home and abroad. Recently, Ms. Le Hoang Quynh – Lecturer of University of Technology has been honored to receive the Golden Globe Award 2021 in the field of Information Technology, Digital Transformation and Automation. This is an award awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Party. Students of the High School of Natural Sciences participating in international Olympic competitions have won 01 gold medal, 04 silver medals and 01 bronze medal. The delegation of students of the High School of Natural Sciences was honored to be awarded 05 Labor Medals by the President, 01 Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister and 02 Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training for their achievements in the International Olympic and Science and Technology Competitions in 2021. |
