Seminar “AI4Industry – Advancing Industry with Visual AI Technology”

Abstract
The RMIT Intelligent Automation Group is actively involved in a series of industry-funded projects aimed at assisting various sectors in adopting visual AI technology for inspection and monitoring tasks. In this talk, Ali Bab-Hadiashar will present examples of the group’s work, highlighting applications of visual AI and Automation in the automotive and food industries. The Intelligent Automation group is eager to expand its collaboration with academia and industry worldwide, aiming to create value for potential industry partners.

👉 Professor Ali Bab-Hadiashar is currently on an extended research visit (3 months) at the Information Technology Institute, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Speaker’s Biography
Professor Alireza Bab-Hadiashar is a versatile engineering academic with significant industrial research experience and knowledge. He works in areas of computer vision, intelligent automation and mechatronics design. He started his academic journey as a postdoctoral research fellow at Monash University, followed by a teaching and research position at Swinburne University of Technology, where he was promoted to the Associate Professor role in 2004. In 2009, he had the opportunity to work at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) for a year, conducting research in the biomedical imaging area. Since joining RMIT in 2011 as a Professor of Mechatronics, he has had ample opportunities to engage in academic and applied research and has successfully played significant roles in discipline leadership, research management, establishment of autonomous and intelligent automation research groups as well as teaching and program leadership. Bab-Hadiashar is currently leading the Intelligent Automation Research Group at the School of Engineering at RMIT University. He is program manager for the Master of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering program. He has been very fortunate with research facilities and mentorship early in his career.
