Key Priorities for 2026

Building on the achievements of the previous year, in 2026 the Information Technology Institute clearly identifies the following key priorities for accelerated development:

1. Artificial Intelligence and Its Applications

Artificial Intelligence (AI) remains a strategic field, playing a pivotal role in digital transformation and socio-economic development. The Institute will strengthen fundamental research in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, while promoting AI applications in healthcare, education, transportation, and smart city management.

Beyond increasing international scientific publications, the Institute aims to establish internationally competitive research groups, develop specialized laboratories, and accelerate the transfer of AI technologies into practice, thereby contributing to solving major national challenges.

2. Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Design

As the semiconductor industry has been identified by the Government as one of the country’s strategic pillars, the Institute will continue to promote research and education in integrated circuit (IC) design and semiconductor technologies. This direction aligns with global development trends and addresses the urgent demand for high-quality human resources in Vietnam’s semiconductor industry.

The Institute will focus on building a strong team of experts and enhancing collaboration with enterprises and international partners in IC design, simulation, and testing, gradually forming an integrated ecosystem of research, education, and technology transfer in the semiconductor domain.

3. Information Security and Cybersecurity

In response to the growing complexity of cyber threats and the increasing demand for information security across all sectors of society, the Institute identifies cybersecurity as a core priority. Research directions include cryptography, system security, cyberattack detection and prevention, big data security, and IoT system protection.

Alongside research activities, the Institute will continue to improve the quality of education and professional training in information security, meeting the needs of government agencies, enterprises, and organizations in the context of comprehensive digital transformation.

Towards Sustainable Development and International Integration

In addition to its academic and research priorities, the Information Technology Institute will continue to refine governance mechanisms, enhance institutional autonomy, and foster a professional, transparent, and creative working environment. Special attention will be given to attracting talented scholars, developing young faculty members, supporting doctoral candidates, and increasing high-quality international publications.
