On November 4, 2024, in Hanoi, a Signing Ceremony for a Cooperation Agreement took place between the Information Technology Institute, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in the fields of scientific research and doctoral training.
Representing Vietnam National University, Hanoi, was Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Trung Hien, Deputy Head of the Department of Cooperation and Development. From the Information Technology Institute, attendees included Prof. Tran Xuan Tu, Director; Assoc. Prof. Le Hoang Son, Deputy Director; Dr. Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director, along with representatives from various departments of the Institute. Representing the University of Technology Sydney were Prof. Peta Wyeth, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, and Prof. Eryk Dutkiewicz, Deputy Dean of the Faculty.
The agreement aims to expand the scope of research collaboration, offer students unique opportunities to experience an international research environment, and promote cooperation between the two institutions in scientific research and advanced training. According to the agreement, doctoral candidates will receive scholarship support throughout their studies (in both Vietnam and Australia). Each candidate will be jointly supervised by a team of scientists from both the University of Technology Sydney and Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
This marks an important milestone in fostering international collaboration in scientific research and training between Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Through this program, young Vietnamese scientists will have the opportunity to access advanced research environments, contributing to enhancing the quality of human resource training in the field of information technology in Vietnam.

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is a public research-oriented university based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. UTS ranks 9th in Australia and 88th globally, according to the QS World University Rankings 2025. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, UTS also ranks 9th in Australia and 148th globally.
UTS consists of nine faculties and schools, with over 50 research centers and institutes, primarily focusing on health, data science, and sustainable development. Currently, UTS offers 130 undergraduate and 210 postgraduate programs. In 2023, UTS had a total enrollment of 47,913 students, including 33,579 undergraduates. As of 2023, UTS has over 290,000 alumni across 140 countries worldwide.
